Mother Earth, our sole habitable planet, is facing increasing concerns about its health and well-being. International Mother Earth Day, celebrated annually on April 22, reminds us of our dependence on Earth's ecosystems and atmosphere while raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting sustainable solutions.

This year's Earth Day theme, "Planet Vs. Plastics," highlights the urgent challenge of plastic pollution, which poses multifaceted threats to our environment. From microplastics infiltrating food chains to non-biodegradable debris polluting oceans and landscapes, the crisis demands a global response. We must shift our production, consumption, and mindset to combat the scourge of plastics and safeguard the health of all life on Earth.

Port Blair, April 21: The Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) in collaboration with Khalsa Public School, Port Blair will conduct a Chess Summer Camp 2024 for Beginners in the age group of 5 to 13 years at Khalsa Public Sr. Sec. School, Gurudwara Lane, Port Blair from 6th May 2024 to 21st June 2024.

Andaman and Nicobar State Organising Committee of CPI (M) condole the sudden demise of TK Damodaran, former Pradhan of Shivapuram Gram Panchayat today (21.04.2024) at his residence at Betapur, Middle Andaman. He was 76 years.  CPI (M) conveyed its deepest condolences to the family members of late TK Damodaran.  

Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has deeply mourned the demise of Shri. T Hasainar, S/o Late T Moideen, Resident of Kodiyaghat, age 78 years. In his message he said that Shri. T Hasainar was a very prominent leader and he earned deep respect from the general public due to his dedicated service for Islanders.

He prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and for enough strength for the members of the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.

Port Blair, April 19: Polling was held for the lone Lok Sabha seat from the A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency today (Apr. 19) in the first Phase of Lok Sabha Election-2024. The Poll percentage in A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency stood at 63.99%. The Polling percentage in South Andaman was 59.59%, in N&M Andaman it was 72.80% and in Nicobar it was 72.77%.
